Vitacress supports first ever virtual Watercress Week
Vitacress is supporting the first ever virtual Watercress Week which starts today.
Usually held in picturesque Alresford in Hampshire, the festival attracts thousands of visitors, but sadly it had to be cancelled due to social distancing. Instead it was decided that it would go online, for this year only, and continue throughout the entire week – from 17 to 23 May.
It has a jam-packed timetable of activities which is continually being added to. From live cooking demonstrations to talks with health and nutrition experts, you will learn about the many benefits of watercress and may get some recipe inspiration.
You will also get the chance to see a walk-through of our very own watercress beds with one of our Growing Managers, Ron - we’ve been growing watercress for some time, so I think it is safe to say we know a thing or two about it!
Watercress is one of the Future 50 Foods – foods which benefit us and the planet – so it really is a superfood. This vitamin-rich green is high in antioxidants such as vitamin C and A, is high in iron and protein and will support your immune system. It is also incredibly versatile to cook with.
