Vitacress Manager selected for Fork Lift Truck Awards
Steve Higgins, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at Vitacress, has been selected from many nominees to sit on the panel of judges at the Fork Lift Truck Association’s (FLTA) Annual Awards for Excellence 2018.
Now in its 24th year, the FLTA Awards is the biggest and most prestigious annual event in the Materials Handling Industry calendar and attracts entrants and sponsors from all over the world. Steve will join a highly experienced and diverse group of industry professionals, chosen for their expert knowledge, to select and reward those that have excelled in the industry.
As part of Steve’s role on the panel, he will be selecting winners in six key categories including: Innovation, Ergonomics, Environment, Safety, Services to the Industry and Lifetime Achievement. The winners will receive their awards at a special ceremony and gala dinner in Telford on Saturday 24th February 2018 and will be presented with the iconic ‘Archie’ statue - a symbol of materials handling excellence.
Steve Higgins said: “It is an honour to be selected to sit on the panel of judges for such prestigious awards. Safety is such an important aspect of the work we do as a business and with fork lift trucks being one of the biggest potential hazards on our sites, our codes of practice are industry leading. I put myself forward for the panel to help encourage others in the industry to adopt best practice, as this is key. This will be my first time on the panel and I am very much looking forward to helping highlight and reward examples of excellence throughout the fork lift truck industry and beyond.”
Simon Conway, Managing Director of Vitacress added: “We are delighted Steve has been chosen to represent Vitacress on the panel of judges. Fork lift trucks play an important role for us in the supply chain process, from farm to retailer, and awards such as these help put onsite health and safety front of mind for the fork lift truck industry.”
