Vitacress Salads raises more than £1700 for local Andover homeless charity
Local Hampshire company, Vitacress Salads, has raised more than £1700 for Two Saints, one of three charities that have been supported by the business throughout 2018.
Two Saints’ vision is to give people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need of support, the opportunity to build a brighter future. The charity runs a number of hostels, and accommodation schemes throughout Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the surrounding areas, including a hostel in Andover.
Staff at St Mary Bourne based Vitacress raised the money during several events throughout the year, including dress up days, cake sales, and even a Guess the Weight of the Marrow competition. Further funds came via Vitacress’ Christmas Jumper Day, where money was also raised for Save the Children. As well as fundraising activity, volunteers from Vitacress supported Two Saints with gardening, helping with weeding, as well as planting bulbs and herbs.
Genee Jasper, Team Leader at Two Saints said: “I would like to pass on that Vitacress have our heartfelt appreciation for raising such an amount of money, and for the wonderful day that its team of volunteers came and worked on our garden areas. As a result of this day, it was decided to carry on with this theme and with the monies Vitacress donated, we have already bought two heavy duty 8-seater garden table and seat sets. The next stage is to remove a shed and have a secure built bicycle shelter with lockable stands. Any monies left over will be used to add to our garden plants.”
Mike Sheldon, Managing Director of Vitacress Salads, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Two Saints throughout 2018. The work they do is an inspiration to us all and the team at Vitacress have fully enjoyed getting involved with such a worthwhile cause.”
