Local watercress and salad producer sponsors Andover Lake Run
Vitacress, the St Mary Bourne based watercress and salad producer, is the lead sponsor of the Andover Lake Run which takes place on Sunday 17th September.
As part of the sponsorship, Vitacress will be hosting a Wild for Watercress stand at the event where they will be providing runners and spectators with watercress smoothie power shots and information about the health benefits of watercress.
The event, which raises money for the Andover Food Bank, launched last year and attracted thousands of runners. Last year’s run was opened by Radio 2 sports presenter Vassos Alexander. This year Steve Holder will be launching the Lake Run.
Tony Reid, head of marketing at Vitacress who will be running in the event said: “As a local business, it’s really important to us to be involved in the local community. The Andover Lake Run is a fantastic, fun event which raises money for an important cause. Watercress is one of the most nutritious vegetables around and something we are extremely proud of here in Hampshire. We look forward to supplying the runners with a tasty, healthy watercress shot. Vitacress is delighted to sponsor the run and our team of runners are busy getting into training ahead of the big day!”
Mike Strong, organiser of the Andover Lake Run added: “Last year’s launch event was such a success and raised over £6000 for the Andover Food Bank. We are thrilled to be working with local businesses like Vitacress as sponsors and I’m sure those watercress power shots will help give some of the day’s runners a boost!
Entries to the Andover Lake Run are open now and there are options for a 10k and 5k race. Visit http://www.andover10klakerun.co.uk/ for more information.
